My Favorite Media Source
Throughout the course of the semester, I have been more heavily involved in consuming media, for that reason, as mentioned in last week’s posts I have picked favorite media sources. For number two I wrote about Kroudis, a media designer and video editor who is very proficient in his work. For this week I am writing about STAB Magazine, they are certainly my favorite media source to follow for a plethora of reasons.
Stab is one of the leading video producers for the surfing industry, they keep pushing the agenda that surfing is rad and needs to stay rad. It’s important that media sources have a clear agenda, one that is respectable and on-brand. that is exactly what stab has, they establish that they are punk, rad, and here for a good time. therefore the quality of their videos is fast, loud, and highly edited. The graphics they post as thumbnails or in their physical magazines are unique and full of text and filters that make them pop.
the audio that is used in STAB content is typically music that I listen to like indie rock, alternative, rock punk, or rap. The music is very fitting for the content and I already have a connection with the music so it only makes it better for a viewer such as myself.
They are also very active posters, being that they are one of the leading content creators in surfing they have multiple articles go our daily so there is always something to be checking out and reading.
Their logo typography as shown below is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. It’s bold it’s loud and it is kind of hard to read, it has all hard edges and the thicknesses of the letters don’t match each other. However, it is a staple in the surf community.
