Light Color

Light color is very soothing and peaceful to look at. With its calming essence, it does not harbor any negative connotations or meanings. Of course, that is my personal take on it. When I look at light colors they remind me of the imagination, or of tv realities. I say this because, in the real world, natural pastel or light colors are very hard to come by. Good thing media outlets can be an excellent way of seeing these colors more often.

Disney is an excellent source of light colors. When I mentioned a tv reality, Disney is one of those that fits the category perfectly. the first film that comes to mind is the old cinderella movie where her dress is a light shade of blue and the surrounding image is light. Cinderella’s blonde hair is also super light. Newer Disney films definitely use more bright and flashy colors to grab attention or to match the cultural setting of the film like Encanto or Luca, (disclaimer: I have not seen either of those films and I’m sure they do have use of some light colors as well). The effect that Disney’s use of light colors has on me is not much, I’m not particularly an animated movie fan and animated Disney movies are not made for an audience like me. I do think the colors are accurate and fitting, however. I think the light colors are used to create a friendly impression on Disney’s target audience. I do think it does a good job at that.

Another media source that has an endless supply of light colors is Pinterest. Pinterest is an image search engine so rather than talking about its good use of light colors ill talk about its good use of finding a specified color. Simply by typing in the phrase “Light Colors” the engine fills with plenty of blues and beiges with a mix of everything else in between. To me the first colors I think of when I hear light colors are warm tones. Pinterest did not show many warm colors. So I would change that about it. However, they show a lot of pallets which is nice for someone who is looking for a specific color, but then it shows a similar pallet that can either be an alternative for, or complement the color desired. I think that is very helpful for content and media creators because color combinations are very important for creating appealing media. Pinterest in my opinion beats out a google search for any colors and certainly on my intended search of “Light Colors”, below is an example of one of the color pallets that I just referenced.

The color names and hex codes are found within the image and this image was one of many palates on Pinterest.
