Bright Color
COLOR – But more importantly BRIGHT color. Bright colors are not my favorite in the rainbow but there is absolutely a time and a place where I value their use. Bright colors draw attention and for my mediums, attention is exactly why they are used.
The first medium I thought of that loves the use of bright color is Pokemon GO. The platform needs to use bright colors in order to entertain and inform. By entertain I mean they are appealing to a younger audience and cause the audience to create a connection with the pokemon or environment in the scene. The colors did exactly that for me when I was a child. Seeing the bright colors of generation three Pokemon Manectric made me choose it as a personal favorite and permanent team member. There is certainly a pokemon that is special in every player’s heart because of its color scheme. Manectric has a bright yellow mane in all of the pokemon games that contrasts the light blue body. In Pokemon GO Manectric is shown as —

The Odd 1’s Out, an animation account on youtube uses bright colors in the background and foreground to draw attention and to create depth. The main character in all the animations is a completely white bubble figure. Naturally, there isn’t much demanding attention by watching the videos. It’s when the character brings into the shot something that is worthy of attention that the colors are bright and in your face. The same concept is used when creating depth. When bright colors are used in the background, the animators are smart enough to create accurate shadows to create depth on a 2D animation. The example below showcases the bright background and proper depth.

I enjoy the colors of these two examples and would not change what is shown, however, there are many Pokemon that I would love to change the colors on simply because I think they lack excitement and look dumb.
The website I used to grab the color HEX’s was imagecolorpicker.com, simply upload the picture and use the eyedropper to select the color.
